In other words, I'm a huge rail fan, but this argument just doesn't
work. If and when bullet trains became popular here, the Bad Guys would
start targeting them for maximum effect, and the security would have to
cover the entire length of each rail line *and* the rail stations,
rather than just the airports required by flight realities.

But the biggie is that terrorists *will* target bullet trains if they
become a reality, just as Bad Guys started to target Firefox once *it*
became popular enough to make the effort worthwhile.

Well then, ok; let's just all revert back to our neanderthal days and
sit in the far corner of our caves quivering at thoughts of those evil
terrists.
Wow. It's like you can read my mind, or something. I mean, that's
*exactly* what I was getting at, and you nailed it right out of the
gate. Amazing.

No need to read your mind, you were pretty clear in your written word.
If you need a more direct response than my allegory, ref: Google Beta
User's response.

You said:
"If and when bullet trains became popular here, the Bad Guys would

Yes, I did. Very good.
....

And they would. You don't need to be a terrorism expert to realize that.

But still, please explain to me where the "neanderthal" and "caves" and
"quivering" bits come into play. See, this is where your reading
challenges come into play.

It never ceases to amaze me that the first resort for a comeback is
accusing the 'opposition' of stupidity. 'Opposition' you don't, in
the least, know a thing about. By someone who isn't able to follow my
allegory.

In that case, answer my question in a way that doesn't demonstrate
stupidity. And to make sure that there's no confusion, I'll copy it
below, even though it's also readily available a few lines up. The
question is:

But still, please explain to me where the "neanderthal" and "caves" and
"quivering" bits come into play.

Because you were either being stupid or dishonest when you spun things
that way. I'm perfectly happy to go with dishonest, if that's what you
would prefer.

I'm noticing a pattern here, in perusing this here chatroom. Your
favorite comeback is, "You're stupid". The fact that you can't grasp
what someone is saying doesn't make them stupid...

I'm noticing a pattern, too. And the pattern is that you don't seem to
want to answer a simple question. But I'll ask it for a *third* time,
and maybe this time you'll actually address it and answer it in a way
that shows that you're neither (a) stupid nor (b) dishonest. Here goes:

But still, please explain to me where the "neanderthal" and "caves" and
"quivering" bits come into play.

You're not gonna get away with much around here, Renata. Even my most
dense opponent on various topics can easily see through the sort of
sophomoric rhetoric that you tossed out in that reply, and I doubt that
anyone is ever going to let you get away with it unchallenged. This
time, it just happens to be my turn to call you on it.

I'll explain this much.
I'm leaving it to your sharp intellect to figure it out for yourself.

Heh. That's quite an explanation. But I'm not surprised. You jerked
your knee, spouted off some hyperbolic nonsense, and then couldn't back
it up or find your way out of the corner you'd placed yourself in.

After all, it's just a posting from a dimwit and someone as smrat as
you should be able to parse it.

Again, I'm giving you the opportunity to claim dishonesty, so it's not
as if I'm *definitively* saying that you're an idiot.
