In my new house, I have a simple light fixture in the bedroom,
although it is wired for a ceiling fan. I have two switches...one
supposedly to operate the light, the other to operate the fan itself.

We went to HD and picked one out, asking them if they for sure knew
that this would work with my set-up. They said "of course," but it
didn't. It came with its own switch, which wouldn't have worked in my
dual set up. I took it back and picked out a replacement. I insisted
on opening it up and reading through the directions...and I think we
have a winner. We'll see...installation occurs this afternoon.

Typically if it comes with a wall control you should be able to install
the wall control to one side of the dual switch, and it should fit in a
rocker-style switch plate. You could probably get a rocker/regular or
rocker/blank faceplate as needed.

(Or buy a fan that comes with a remote, or just a pull chain.)
