Why I voted for Hillary

I'd love to have Barack Obama as president but I did end up voting for
Hillary when I voted early for the upcoming primary in NC.
I've said all along that Obama has had a pretty easy ride so far and I
was glad for the stretched out primary because I wanted to see how he
will do when he hits a rough patch, and not have the time when we find
out he's not up to it be in the general election. Well in the last few
weeks things have gotten rough for him and he hasn't handled it well
IMO.
First, the PA debate. I agree that he got a bunch of bull*** gotcha
questions. But dude, Democrats have been losing elections on those
bull***, gotcha questions since 1988! So yes they suck but they are
not irrelevant. I was not impressed by how Obama handled that,
especially the several weeks of whining that followed and now he
refuses to debate Clinton any more??? Good luck in November with that
strategy, ya ***. This ain't beanball.
Oh and by the way am I the only one who noticed that when the PA
debate did finally get around to substantive questions, Hillary kicked
his ass on them?
I've come to the conclusion that Hillary is more ready and also
electable, plain and simple. Hillary is winning the voters that will
swing this, in the states that will swing this. Obama brags about
winning states that Democrats usually lose, but so what -- in a lot of
those states there are either so few Democrats, or the state is so
much in the Republican camp, that McCain will still win them in
November. Winning the 500 Democrats who live in Idaho ain't a
bragging point, man. Ditto for most of the southern states where
Obama won. He won because of African American voters, who make up a
much larger percentage of the Democratic primary vote than the general
election vote. African Americans + college students + liberal whites
isn't going to win a general election, and I don't see Obama making
signficant inroads outside those groups. For example in the latest
poll in NC, he's losing among white voters by 31%. 31%!!!! That's far
too much to account for by just claiming it's Jesse Helms racism. And
btw, Clinton is beating him among independents here too.
I think people are starting to realize this. In the latest NC poll,
Obama's lead is down to 49-44. Not good for closing the deal -- which
is something he hasn't been able to do despite many opportunities.
In PA and other big states, Hillary crushed him among late-deciding
voters. Another bad sign. A few months ago, it seemed like the more
voters got to know Obama, the more they liked him. That seems to have
plateaued and may even be declining.
I wish we could have a President Obama. It was a nice fantasy for an
idealistic liberal like me. But now it's time to grow up, face
reality, and vote for Hillary. Because an Obama presidency ain't
gonna happen. As unlikely or incompatible as it seems, he really does
need to be her VP running mate and get some seasoning. If she loses
he will be guy in 2012, if she wins he'll be the guy in 2016, if he
gets and uses the right kind of experience.
Btw, here's the NC poll I referred to:

I cast my vote before this came out, so it did not influence me.
