Here in central NC with general non permeable

department.
I'll bet thats loads of fun.
Heh, it's not "fun" but it is rewarding to be self sufficient and be
in charge of my own little wastewater system. Also, after working all
week in the clerking factory it's good to do some real work outdoors.
When I retire or when my job finally goes offshore, I may upgrade my
license and do it for other people -- between that and flight
instructing I could prolly eke out a living if I had to, and no
cubicles in either case. OK, back to reality. Anyway I'm on file at
the health department even though on my license I can only do my own
system, I'm always getting calls from people who don't understand
that and want to hire me to do theirs. Those guys get about $250 for
a couple hours work and yeah it can be gross but it's not THAT gross
and it's not rocket science or even difficult. With all the housing
growth around here and the poor soil, there'll plenty of work to go
around if you're willing to get your hands dirty, and since it
requires a state license the illegals won't be taking any of the
work. And from a geek point of view it was kinda cool to take the
NCSU course and learn the nitty gritty of how these systems work, are
designed, etc.
When I cleaned mine out a few years ago, I was on all fours puking
several times. Strong back, weak stomach.
