Or, more accurately, land buying question...
We've taken the couple of suggestions regarding buying a pieceland
now instead of a home and then building on it shortly before our
retirement.
So one of the great pieces of land (at a very cheap price) we'vefound
is in a developed association located a couple of miles out oftown
(which we'd love!).
However, it is septic-system only, due to its' location.
Now, I've always had nightmarish visions of septic systems, but Ihave
no actual experience with them.
Are they a pain to maintain (cold weather, so pipes may be anissue)?
Are they expensive to maintain? How often do they need to becleaned
out, and is that expensive?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
The city requires a maintenance contract on our system. I write a
check for $250 a year. The contractor checks it out periodically.
Otherwise, I don't even think about it.
You probably have an engineered system with pumps, floats and alarms?
Do you have a control panel with an alarm?
.
