Good luck David. My thoughts are with you and your family.

And, I concur with everyone who's posted on MD Anderson. I would want
anyone in my family to see if they could get treatment there if at all
possible. It's like a small city down there devoted to cancer research
and treatment. If you can get past the fact that it's the *University
of Texas* MD Anderson Cancer Center, that is.

I recently worked with a research team there, pulling together their
documentation and writing additional supporting material to publish
and present to the NIH, to get regulatory approval for one of their
clinical trials. The gist of the trial is genetics-based treatment,
wherein they take T-cells from a patient, genetically modify those T-
cells so that they target the cancer type, and then grow lots more T-
cells, and then they put them back into the patient. It's pretty
remarkable work; in that one day, they may be able to treat cancer by
using our own "beefed up" T-cells, instead of relying on chemotherapy
and radiation. It looks promising so far.
