Dr. Tan & Dr. Williams want to get me in a clinical study for a new
use for a cancer drug currently used on a different type of tumor. One
good point about this study is that if I get the placebo and the
tumors grow, then I get put on the study drug. The Hepatic Arterial
Chemoembolization may still be on the table - they have to consult
with the surgeon, Dr. Strasberg - about that. I might also be looking
at a trip to MD Anderson down in Houston if I don't qualify for this
trial at Barnes but do qualify for one of the trials down there.

MDAnderson RUTSes.

My sister is in Denver and has an agressive breast cancer. I told her
she could come stay with me in Houston and go to MDAnderson. She
contacted them about it and they said, "Send us all your stuff. We'll
work with your doctor in Denver so that you can get our cutting edge
treatment but stay at home with your family and support."

She is on a chemo treatment that MDAnderson was trialing... and it was
so successful that just a few weeks into the trial they took the
non-group off and gave them the treatment. It is specific to a
particular kind of breast cancer, and it turns out that is what my
sister has. She started chemo last Fall. My sister's tumor is
basically gone and her bloodwork is normal. Her prognosis is
excellent.

So there are successes out there... Keep positive and keep talking to
the best folks.
