just react.
Nevertheless, I don't see anything anti-vet in the quoted text. Yet
you said, in your opinion it was anti-vet. Could you please clarify?
Fair enough. This is how I arrived at the opinion that these people
were "anti-vet":
1. Using a Veterans' Day parade into an opportunity to make a
politcal statement. A statement which, once again IMO, is not
supported by a majority of veterans.
They were welcomed into the Veterans' Day Parade because they clearly
were NOT anti-veteran. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been there. Did
you completely ignore my statements about how they carried themselves
toward not only the veterans but also my ROTC cadets there?
They were nice to the folks, great. I don't think it was a proper
place to make a political statement, especially this type of
statement.
2. The commander-in-chief of the US military forces is George Bush.
This group is certainly anti-Bush.
What a stupid rationale. I'M anti-Bush and I'm a VETERAN.
Okay.
3. I don't know if they did it at this parade, but these people
literally bang pots and pans together to attact attention. This seems
disrespectful of vets on a day set for them.
They did literally bang the pots and pans yes...and the point WAS to
attract attention, duh. So do the bands playing to attract attention
bother you? Do the ROTC cadets singing jodies to attract attention
bother you? Do the people shouting to attract attention bother you?
This is a ridiculous array of questions. I find it hard to even
respond to such questions.
Are you saying that "all noises are good" regardless of the place or
time? Banging pots and pans during the parade is not disrespectful?
I have gone to vet parades to honor veterans, not to listen to a bunch
of assholes banging pots and pans together to make a political
statement.
If I go to a movie and someone strarts banging pots and pans together
or shouting or singing, yes, that would bother me.
4. Groups such as ANSWER are specifically anti-American and anti-vet,
yet hide behind the unbelievable slogan "Support The Troops, Bring
Them Home" which, IMO, is BS. Is this groups as far-out as ANSWER? I
don't know, my experience tells me it is.
I don't have any idea what "ANSWER" is, however my personal experience
with the Molly Ivins group tells me that they absolutely do support
our troops in truth.
Okay.
5. I've read too many op-eds and statements from liberals who clearly
hate the military, assume that those who serve are idiots or closeted
serial killers to believe that they suddenly "support the troops."
What does this have to do with the Molly Ivins group?
I based my statement on my opinion, on my experiences with such people
and what I have read about them. If they really do "support the
troops" great, good luck to them, but I don't believe them.
