Barack Hussein Obama's photo (that's his real name)......the article
said he REFUSED TO NOT ONLY PUT HIS HAND ON HIS HEART DURING THE
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE, BUT REFUSED TO SAY THE PLEDGE.....how in the
h*** can a man like this expect to be our next Commander-in-Chief????"

The above article was sent to me along with a picture showing Obama
with his hands at his side while all the others honored the flag with
their hand over their heart. Can anybody justify his behavior as
described above?
I was unaware that holding your hand over your heart while reciting
the pledge was a litmus test for loving our country. Don't get me
wrong...it was a dumb thing to do, only because it gets the simpletons
all in an uproar. But does anyone with an ounce of intelligence think
this really means anything?
Personally I'd prefer my presidential candidate to be pledging
allegiance to the Constitution, not the flag.
When you pledge allegiance "to the Republic for which it stands," are you not also pledging allegiance to the Constitution of that Republic?
Not necessarily, no...
You'll have to explain that one to me.

When you pledge allegiance to the Republic that may mean you would
choose allegiance to the republic over the Constitution.

But if the Constitution defines the republic, there should be no
temptation to pledge support for one and not the other.

Yet there is. See: "My country, right or wrong" types for a perfect
example... and those willing to allow US citizens to be declared
enemy combatants (for the purpose of saving the republic from
terrorists) for another...

Because it attaching at best a theistic (and in reality avowedly
Christian) bent to a nation that Constitutionally is secular.

Why do you believe that our nation is constitutionally secular?

Because a Congress of the founding fathers, during the Adams
administration specifically stated so.
