Getting made at me because I'm a "computer professional" (programmer) who

Thank you.
Did you click on that WHHI figure skater the other day? I SWEAR thats
where I picked up a trojan virus. The only unknown places I go are
links from here.
***.
That's what I initially thought it might be, too. However, I
corresponded with posters in the group that I got that from (most of
whom I trust) and nobody else seems to have picked it up from there,
nor even had any alarms go off, etc. One even said he went back and
scanned the site and it turned up clean. If you got it from there,
then that must be where I got it from too.
Have you managed to figure out which one of the 13 bazillion anti-
virus/anti-spyware/anti-malware programs managed to fix it for you or
did you nuke your drive, too?
My wife was ready to conceded that it probably wasn't me after all,
since the web forums she frequents also just happened to get hax0red
around the same time and users of that board were reporting problems
similar to ours, except I doubt any of them watched a video of a
nekkid asian figure skater.
Well I could well be wrong or maybe our computers were more exposed to
this particular virus. Are you on IE?
My wife called Dell and we were still on warranty so some dell lady
took control of our computer and went through cleaning it up. It aint
100% but its much better.- Hide quoted text -
Running IE, too. Also a Dell laptop, but out of warranty. I tried re-
installing IE 7 but it didn't help. Dell would probably charge me.
Too bad it didn't happen to my kids' laptops, they're still under
warranty.
Oh well, gonna wipe the SOB looks like.- Hide quoted text -

I know Jack about computering, but from Wiki and from the Dell lady,
have you tried completely cleaning out your temporary internet files,
cookies and all? Start with that.
She also got us "Superantispyware".- Hide quoted text -

One more thing...when this all started I had a supposed antispyware
program that I had never seen before on my bottom right toolbar. It
said it had found all these bad things and had a "buy now" button. I
wondered if the whole virus was to get idots to buy the supposed fix.
I didnt, but I thot about it for a minute. Dell lady removed it as
well.
