Absolute Nonsense in the poll (not that it's surprising)


So the first thing that jumped out to me was Virginia Tech ranked at
#14 and #15. I looked at their schedule and I see a 7 pt win over 1-4
North Carolina and a 10 pt win over 2-3 East Carolina, their only
other real measuring stick is a 41 pt loss to LSU. If we take a
similar look at a team with the same record at 4-1 and a large margin
loss to #1 USC, we see that other team ranked at #25. How is a 41 pt
loss to LSU a more impressive outing than a 17 pt loss to the #1 team
in the country? That's just one thing that jumps out to me. The next
thing that jumps out is how little the teams that got suprised, fell.
Oklahoma loses to Colorado and Texas gets creamed by Kansas St, and
some of these teams remain in the top 10? Ridiculous.

Oregon remains inflated from their victory over Michigan where it
seems people have already forgotten they lost to App St. Crazy, crazy
world. I understand some of it is long range predictions, but at the
very least you'd think they'd recognize that Missouri's win over
Illinois is looking a lot more impressive now, and that maybe as a 4-0
team with at least 1 quality win you could go ahead and vault them
over at least some of slew of 1-loss teams ahead of them.

I've been bewildered by the polls many times before as most of the
rest of you have, and I suppose that they hardly knew what to make of
all those upsets Saturday, but it remains one of the most ridiculous
polls I've seen in a long, long time.
