Thin crust. Double black olives. Double black olives. Bacon. Banana
peppers.

Discuss.

Before the Type II diabetes diagnosis, I wouldn't hesitate to eat at least
half a pizza, sometime three quarters.

Since the diagnosis, I've had to look at nutrition info. The only one
handy
was Pizza Hut, since my boys enjoy their personal pan pizzas so
frequently.
I was amazed that apparently no matter what the toppings or crust, the
total
carbs per slice only varied +- 2 carbs or so, with most averaging about 24
carbs per slice. That's not too awful bad, but it would mean that I'd
have
to limit myself to two slices per meal. I also found it interesting that
the larger size pies actually had a few less carbs per slice, most likely
because larger pies are probably cut into more slices, hence smaller
slices.

Going by that general carb content, I have on more than one occaision
attempted to eat two slices of pizza for dinner, since it's a family
favorite, and not all pizza places deliver salads as well. I've had to
give
it up, since eating only one slice is ridiculous (would leave me starving)
and apparently eating two (usually dominoes) sends my blood glucose
through
the freaking roof. Much more than I would expect about 50 carbs to do,
anyway.

This made me sade.

Sorry, I didn't mean to bring anyone down, or sound like I was complaining.
I do miss certain foods, but I am learning to eat better. I'm beginning to
love salads, and I even like cucumbers now, never have before. What is
incredibly frustrating, however, is that I lost a lot of weight really fast,
but I've hit a wall now for the last couple of months. I can't drop another
ounce, even though I'm literally eating like a bird compared to what I used
to eat, at least half maybe less. I'm sure it's because I don't exercise,
but it's just annoying to think of all the yummy stuff I had to give up just
to be 14 pounds lighter.

It's not that I'm hungry, the medications I'm taking seems to help with
that. Every now and then I'm hungry but for the most part, I'm fine. I
just miss the sensory enjoyment of high-carb stuff that I used to take for
granted.
