I was basically told "We can't tell." in answer to the question "Is it
cancer?"
The oncologist regarded this, rightly, as good news, but it's still
damned frustrating. Additionally, lymphoma was ruled out - which is
also good news.
The upshot is that I am being referred to the Siteman Cancer Center at
Barnes/Jewish Hospital (Washington University Medical School) for
resection (newfangled doctor speak for "removal") of the pancreatic
mass. He said I should be seen within two weeks.
I was, finally, able to get the oncologist to show me the CT scans and
explain what we were looking at (I have a CD with the scans on them,
but the slice view of a CT scan is very disconcerting, IMO, to a
medical layperson). The mass is actually pretty damned big.
That sounds like good news so far.
Of course, that's only until the great wikipedian Mianderson chimes in
to disapprove my post.
