I've been there. In my younger years I dated a Japanese girl and I spent 3 weeks in Japan visiting her family in Tokyo and traveling around the island. I walked around the A-Bomb dome and Peace Memorial Park. I got a really bad case of food poisoning from the curry I ordered from the restaurant of the hotel we were staying in. I have a picture of me stuffed in to the bathtub of that particular hotel also, it seemed to be all of 3 feet long. The most interesting story around going to Hiroshima involves hitting the sushi bar the night before we left. Her immediate family and some extended family was there, including her 80+ year old grandmother. Grandma was going shot for shot with me on a bottle of sake. She asked me what I would do if somebody came up and started yelling at me when we visited. I replied that I would tell them to shut up or we'd do it again. Luckily everybody in earshot laughed loudly, I was thinking that I might be making a very bad attempt at humor to some people but oh well, it worked out.
