Seattle: Ivars fish and chips, decent Mexican food at just about
every place, including these weird little trucks that serve authentic
tacos. Note that I didn't say "the best" Mexican food, that is up for
debate--its just impossible to find really crappy Mexican food there
outside of Taco Bell. (My vote for the best outside of Mexico would be
San Diego.) Olympia oysters. Really good Red Delicious apples and
Really good Rainier cherries.

Deetroit: hot cinnamon donuts with fresh apple cider. Real good
poonchkis from Hamtramck.

Chicago: "Combo" sandwich--Sliced beef with juice and a grilled
Italian sausage with sweet peppers. Real Chicago style hot dogs with
florescent green relish and sport peppers.

OK, this is a pet peave, so don't take it personal-like.

WTF is so special about a "Chicago Style" hotdog that makes it "REAL"(TM)? I get
tired of reading this crapola everytime some snob starts in on the subject.

What makes it "REAL"?

A "Real" Chicago hot dog goes like this: Two lines of yellow mustard
on a nondescript bun, followed by diced onions, flourescent green
sweet relish then the dog which MUST be a Vienna, followed by two dill
pickle spears, four wedges of tomato, two small slices of cucumber, two
skinny jalepeno peppers ("sport" peppers, which are optional) and a
sprinkling of celery salt. I like my dogs all sorts of ways, with
kraut, brown mustard, etc., but the Chigago dog is a very nice way to
have one.

They don't even know enough to try Saurkraut, Greek Sauce, or ketchup on them.
There's more to life than plain old mustard, relish and onions.

Indiana: Sweet corn that brings tears to your eyes, and, briefly in
August one of the best canteloupe type melons in the country

Good sweetcorn can be had all over- it's in the hybrids and the fertilizing.

Flahda: Pink Key West shrimp caught that morning--shrimp is usually
pretty good wherever you get it, but these are some of the best.
Weird, ugly and very sweet juice oranges at roadside stands.

Wisconsin: Curds that alway squeak when you eat them.

Pennsyltucky:

1. Any of the umpteen flavors of Ring Baloney.
2. Potpie (botboi) Hint: it hain't a MEAT-PIE or a Casserole and it has DOUGH,
not pasta bowties.
