For all of those, "we could just provide national health care
coverage like Canada", the Torontonian newspapers were full of
stories about their vaunted system. How exploding costs are causing
more and more services to be dropped

the thing many people on the right never point out is that if we spent
60% more than canada per person on our system, it would eliminate a
lot of the time/waiting/limited services angle............and it would
still cost less than our system now. And everyone would have
access.

I wonder how many people truly believe that other than your misguided
self.

ummm....lots of people.

Let's just throw more money at it.

no. if we spent half again more per person than canada does, we'd be
throwing *less* money are than we are now.

And let's increase taxes to do that.
Take it away from the private insurance companiesand let the government
manage it. Of course your taxes will be going up. And of course your
current levels of service are likely to diminish. And then if you want
to maintain your levels, you'll have to shell out for private insurance
in addition to your taxes (if that'd even be allowed). But the
government is so good at managing other programs, this would be great!

i'd take it over what we have now. It's going to happen(in some form)
eventually....it's just a question of when.

Hell health care at many hospitals now(especially academic ones) is
already vast majority gov't health care in the form of medicare and
medicaid pts. Let's just take it that extra step.......
