I understand your frustration, but Earthlink ain't no bed of roses
customer service-wise either. Actually, the saddest thing is that none
of these companies are.
I don't expect they will be. But they are cheaper.
AOL RUTSes the competition. They spend half an hour trying to
talk you out of dropping them.
Adelphia Cable Internet has someone that does that too. I set up an appointment to have them come install, then a couple of days later found that Verizon DSL is around $15/month cheaper with virtually the same speed statistics. Call Adelphia to cancel my installation appointment, and they transfer me to a guy whose job apparently is to argue with people. His tactic was to tell me that Verizon's rates weren't guaranteed -- they could raise them on me (and implying that they would). I asked him if Adelphia could guarantee me a cheaper rate. His response was "There are no guarantees in life, sir."
