Patiently waiting in line..........

As are we all. But really, what has Castro done, anyway?

Nothing this side of the Cuban missle crisis...oh, and sending
all of his criminals out on boats to Miami.

That whole mass murder, repression & drug trafficking kind of
bothers me too. But I'm silly that way.

Breaking news. He's a Latin American dictator.

I just find our obsession about him strange when there have been
leaders just as bad in other parts of the hemisphere. (I do
realize it's because of the massive anti-Castro Cuban contingent
in the swing state of Florida, but still...)

Well, maybe part of it was Cuba's contribution towards
destabilizing countries in Africa and pointing nucular missiles
at us.

40 years ago (and they never had the missles to point.) That was
before China was supplying the Vietcong - and now China is our
largest trading partner. (And they still have missles pointing at
us.)

Ralph is 100% right here. Politicians really don't care all that
much that Castro is a communist dictator. They just don't want to
piss off a significant voting bloc in a swing state.

Jon

I find it heartwarming the concern you liberals of RSFC have for
the basic human rights of the freedom loving people of Republica De
Cuba. Brings a tear to my eye to be sure. At least you and
Ralph's true hammer and sickle colors are plainly on display for
all to see!

Oh, I have concerns over human rights. I also realize that the
two-faced way we approach countries with massive human rights
issues. (Cuba and China for instance.) One is economically
important to us while the other one isn't, so we hold our nose and
deal with one and rhetorically attack the other. This has been our
basic policy for decades.

Your concern for the basic human rights of the freedom loving people
of Republica De Cuba is wonderful to see. Especially in it's
practical application. I mean, nothing like advocating foreign
policy that is utterly self destructive! Well done.

What is utterly self-destructive? I'm not saying that we should cut
off ties with China, I'm just saying that we treat the two countries
very differently based upon our policial and economic self-interests.
There is nothing inherently wrong with that - I just find it odd.

And keep up. Insinuating that someone is a communist is SOOOO
1950s....

Defending communism is so early 70's. What did you not only miss
the last 15 years of Iraq..did you somehow manage to miss the entire
history of Communism in the western hemisphere? Jon I seriously am
amazed that you can walk and breath at the same time.

Communism is dead. The difference between a right wing dictator and a
left wing dictator is nil. Oppression is oppression no matter the
rhetoric that is used.

Jon

And apparently semantics is alive and well. Cuba, North Korea and China say
HI btw. Ask their governments if they are Communist. I mean damn....you
liberals must have a real hard time convincing yourselves that the
terrorists don't mean what they say they mean..that W lied about WMDs when
Saddam admitted having them....and now...Communism..eh..no big deal.

Charles, it doesn't matter if the remaining countries of the world call
themselves "communist" or "socialist" or "scientologist." They are
just dictators. Honestly, do you really think that North Korea, Cuba
or Vietnam are attempting to follow the bizarre ideas put forward by
Karl Marx? No...they are just two-bit dictatorships using rhetoric to
back up their misdeeds.

Communism was defeated. It is not spreading because it was defeated. The
defeat of Communism does not suddenly change the fact that it was a horribly
destructive ideology..it just means..the good guys did win.

I wholeheartedly agree with your statement. That is why I said up
above "Communism is dead."

Oh wait..that
would be a moral judgement and you guys belive only in moral equivalency.
Nevermind.

Yet another insult. You're taking the high road again.
