not bad, but they give only passing attention to the key reason
the "halo of unity" or whatever didn't last - democrat refusal
to get over their bitterness over the 2000 election. pre-dated
iraq, homeland security measures, attack ads against max
cleland, everything.
the democrat hated bush from day one but glossed it for about 6
months after 9/11 out of sheer political necessity, then it
boiled right back to the surface.
And that is hitting the nail right on the head. Democrats would
rather destroy the present administration then to win the war on
terror. They won't admit it at all...but it is transparently
obvious.
I think it is fairly obvious that there are people on both sides
that are mostly concerned about their self-interests versus the
interests of the country. That is essentially the problem with
politics these days - many politicians have their priorities mixed
up.
Jon
I think that is a nice reply that misses the significant point that
one party is placing election ahead of national interests. I
believe it is our absolute vital national interest to win the war
on terror...so those that undermine the effort are a danger to
national security. A lot of significant members of the Democratic
Party go way accross that line regularly.
Whatever. I'm just saying that on a variety of issues, both sides
of the aisle are guilty of the same crime. If you want to say
"well the Democrats do it more," I think it would be a lousy waste
of time to debate the issue.
Jon
Well the "whatever" is akin to saying I am a liar which is
nonsensical. How about try this? Instead of the blanket statement
find examples of the GOP placing electioneering ahead of vital
national security interests. It would be interesting to read what
you find to support the both sides do it nature of your
statement..especially given that in the case of the DNC it is
essential to their strategy and consistent with their message.
Fiscally-conservative Republicans. They will use the phrase "tax and
spend Democrats" consistently, while spending money like drunken
sailors when they are in charge. See: Lott, Trent.
Jon
OK that makes zero so far. You can start anytime you want.
