I saw this when it aired. How can he sit there with a straight face and
say global warming threatens to have a more radical affect on the
planetary environment that a full out nuclear exchange between the 80's
level Soviet and American arsenals?

Global Warming >>>>> Nuclear Winter??

It certainly could be much worse - or do you think the last ice age wasn't
worse than say the eruption of Karakatoa? Nuclear winter would be a
relatively short term (albeit drastic) cooling until the particulate matter
settled out of the atmosphere.

Its this type of hyperbole that makes it hard to take
Al serious. Perhaps he should look into that instead of blaming the right
for the degredation of all political discussions.

As for the nuclear power statement, I'm on the fence on that one. Do you
really want the kind of dangers that we saw spring from Chernobyl go out
to the lowest bidder?

The kind of dangers that we saw spring from Chernobyl can't occur with US
style power reactors.

"The Titanic will not sink."

I have every confidence in airline safety, but I still get nervous on
planes.

I took several courses in nuclear reactor operation. I remember some
lectures comparing the dangers and effects of nuclear power to coal and
some others. I'm sorry I can't site the support but I do remember
nuclear coming out on top. Maybe some engineer out there can cite or
I'll run into something on google.
