Especially if it is family. I'll tell the rest of the world to screw
themselves, but I'll help my family - especially nieces, nephews and
the like - anytime they ask.

I do understand that blood is thicker than water, but family is just as
capable of taking advantage/using as the rest of the world. I am more apt
to be more lenient with family, give more chance with family...but maybe I
just know I have a few family members that are likely to take advantage of a
person's generosity.
