Flocking I tell you, flocking!
So I guess all these flockers are going for
years to these non-mainstream medicine providers
because, even though they get no results, the
ads are catchy.
You're assuming that because they got results, the treatment was why.
Placebos often show effectiveness rates in the 50% neighborhood.
As it does in all medicine. *yawn*
Yes - and that is why they do blind studies using placebos, to find out how
much better the actual drug works than nothing. Lots of people get results
from alternative medicine because they want to get results from alternative
medicine.
And lots of people get results because it
actually works. Or are you claiming all positive
results from alternative medicine are placebo
effect? Surely you're not that dense.
I'm saying that any "alternative" medicine that shows better results than
placebos is actually functional and will be adopted by the medical
profession.
I'm also claiming that having positive results doesn't in any way imply
efficacy. There is a reason double blind testing is done - and it isn't
because people like to waste money.
People routinely hear differences in audio quality by doing all sorts of
strange things including putting green marker on CD's. When these tests
are done blind, big suprise - the differences the listeners were hearing
just dissappear.
