James has given us some insight into his personality...he's likeable
iirc. Now every parent thinks there kis is well-liked, so that might
be a little hyperbolic, but I don't think jamie would use that term if
he were a total recluse/withdrawn type.

he's given us insight into this too. Except for the lying about the
hw, he seems to have a fairly good relationship.

What works for one
kid won't work for another. Depending on the kid, your "no-brainer"
could work, could cause total withdrawal, or total rebellion. From his
description, he seems to be a good kid who is bored with
schoolwork/doesn't see the value of homework...or decent grades.

exactly....and he doesn't see the value of decent grades because Jamie
hasn't done anything to stress it. He's total playing the father.
He's thinking to himself "well I could spend 1.5 hrs on this homework
and then only have 1 hr to play on the computer and talk to some girl I
want to hook up with" or "I could spend 2.75 hrs on the computer and 15
minutes lying to me father about the grades not being up yet". He'll
keep doing this until James takes away something he wants.....duh.

But what do I know. I'm on my third kid with, so far, no arrests,
no unwanted pregnancies, no drug problems, etc.....(and I do realize
some luck is involved).
