also virginia iirc correctly has that nasty rule now

I don't think VA requires the double degree. My degree is in math,
while the ed stuff was classified as an emphasis. There were no red
flags back in '91. That may have changed, but word from the teachers
I've talked to is that my degree is fine.
W&M and UVa both at one time offered a 5 year secondary ed track.
Graduates completed a bachelors in their subject matter and a masters
in ed.
My major was math but I also got a Professional Secondary Education
Certificate. I also passed the State Driver Ed course. I guess I would
have three degrees vice one by Missing in Action's VA standards.
I would not have qualified for the masters since I graduated in less
than 4 years.
