I've built quite a few computers over the last 12 years, so I have
quite a bit of experience with their problems. I'm really just
looking for confirmation of my worst fear.
When the green light is on on the mobo, and when you turn the
system on the power light on the front comes up, but yet there is
absolutely no response from the BIOS, that's either a fried BIOS
chip something else really badly wrong on the mobo, right?
When you didn't have the CPU plugged in correctly, did you really get
know BIOS action at all, or did you just get an instant error beep?
'Cause I'm getting no beeps or output from the BIOS at all.

The little light came on on the MB. Nothing else happened. (Well,
maybe the CPU fan turned on; I don't remember.)

Once I managed to pull the heat sink/fan thing off the CPU and
successfully installed it, all was well (and still is, when Norton
isn't acting up).

I did kill a video card at one point. Whenever I had a significant
amount of black on the screen (in graphic mode), the whole machine
locked up. But I don't think that would prevent you from even getting
to the BIOS. Do you have another video card you could try?


No. We have also noticed that now when we turn the machine off with the
power switch on the front, it immediately restarts again. The power
light comes on, the drive LED stays lit, and nothing else happens. We
hold in the power button for four seconds, it turnes off, then instantly
restarts again. Ad infinatum.

I'm really thinking PS or mobo now.
