True story.
A friend of mine at Virginia Tech goes to a party at this chyck's
apartment, gets drunk, passes out on the couch. The chyck whose
apartment it is doesn't know who he is and doesnt' know if he's OK so
she calls 911 and an ambulance comes. Blacksburg cops hear the call and
respond too. So the paramedics are carrying him out on a stretcher
when the cops arrive. They say "what's goin on" paramedics tell him.
so they look down at my friend who is passed out on the stretcher, not
even there of his own free will and say, "well he's drunk, now he's in
public, so he's under arrest." I guess the paramedics were happy to be
out of the situation because my friend woke up in a jail cell.
Not only that, but he's on his back and not being watched -- so much
for it being for his own good.
The lawyer for VT student services hears his story and agrees to
represent him because it's so outrageous an acquittal should be easy.
Well anyone who's lived in a college town where the locals don't
exactly love the students who outnumber them during the school year
knows how this story ends. With a guilty verdict.
