I sent them a support question and stated that

I'm not trying to be snarky here, but is there a reason you're not using a
real noose reader?

I don't take offense. I just started using it while I was at work, when
they removed the news server, and I haven't done anything different.
Like many people, my life is driven by my fascination with inertia.

I also find that the interface with Google is easier for me to deal
with. I've been posting out here for many years, and I've used a bunch
of newsreaders, but, in the last few years, I bail out for a few weeks
at a time and don't keep up. So, it's just easier for me to chime in on
the hot topics of the day, which are typically in the first couple of
pages goog groups r.s.f.c.

I also find it distracting to download a bunch of message headers and
then sort through them to find people and subjects. I know about all
the nice options that makes sorting simple and filters that allow you
to blow off subjects and people. I use a newsreader at home when Google
his hosed up and has queued up posts, and I can't get instant
gratification.

I may go back to using a newsreader now because there are two things
that are really bugging me with google groups; 1) there is a hideous
work-around one has to use to post a response to another person's post,
and keep the original quoted text in the thread (this is another one
that google says "this is how it's supposed to work" "uh...no", and 2)
this new usability problem that this thread is about.
