So you think they are interested in just one conversation? Do you have

You don't need a new warrant to tap each call - once you have that warrant
(and you can listen for three days before getting one) you can continue to
listen to those conversations indefinitely.

Probably. But how are they going to know without listening? Really?
I mean they have some reasons for suspicion to begin with, but they are
shaky, so they don't get a warrant, they don't listen, and BLAM! We
lose a few million people, but doggone it, we WON'T have warrantless
wiretaps!!!

....and that is the price we pay for freedom. The second amendment increases
accidental shootings as well as criminal shootings in the United States -
but that is the price we pay for our freedom. Both are worth the price.
