It's quite common at the medium-sized state college where I
teach. Students miss most of the classes, fail two midterms
then want to know if I give extra credit. (If they'd
bothered to attend class they'd know the answer.) They're
stunned when I tell them I don't. I generally fail upwards
of 15 percent in my principles courses. - Tony
