IPOD LOCKED - HELP !!

I unplugged my 20gig 4G ipod from windows without turning off the
power. Since then it has been locked and i cannot do anything with it.
I have flattened the battery, i cannot reset or restore it. It
permenantly shows either an apple logo or a folder icon with an
exclamation mark. Any ideas please ?????
