Or could it be that it's exactly as Jeff said
it was? The FEMA stuff is arguable, but it is
a fact that tons of the national guard is in Iraq
instead of home here where it should be, in place
to step in during catastrophes such as this.

Well don't look now, but critism is starting
to come in from the right as well. The lack of
any meaningful response for days now really is
a national disgrace at this point. Pathetic. And
if you want to hide from the facts and call that
partisan bs, go ahead and just keep hiding your head
in the sand.

People are dying of dehydration, for Christ's
sake. And we can't even manage to drop in water
on parachutes?

Nobody's expecting Bush to magically rebuild New
Orleans. What the hell is going to be our response if
al-Qaeda terrorists do something far more dire than
a hurricane affecting only a small percentage of the
country, like smuggle in atomic bombs? We're completely
stymied by the "logistics" of a broken levee, and we're
not supposed to worry that our homeland security is
a joke? Oh yeah, that's right, "we're fitin' the
terrists over there so we don't have to fite em here,"
so no worries, mates.
