You should almost always send money because it can be applied to
what is needed. A truckload of diapers and toilet paper from New York
is nice, but what if bridges, roads, etc are out? It's easier for those
on the spot to buy what they need and bring it where they need it. Even
if there isn't much in the immediate area, it's easier to bring it from
100 miles than 1000+.
