The press *hated* Bill Clinton? Really? That's interesting, since they seemed to bird-dog for him quite a bit on the issues, and covered heavily for him on his personal stuff.

yeah, as John Harris recently wrote in "the survivor", the whole lewinsky thing was very big to "insider" washington - the media elite, the career bureaucrats, the staffers, the consultants, etc.. What was considered so troubling wasn't the lying to the general public - that's pretty much expected for a DC politician. But it was considered an unconscionable betrayal to lie behind close doors to staff, admin officials, in off-the-record chats with reporters, etc. about it.
in other words, to lie to the insiders....
In other words, you've forgotten everything from 1992 until Lewinsky. .
