Good Team vs Good Players

I coach a young college program in a very tough section. We
typically have 1-2 teams from our section compete on a
national level. We've never made regionals and typically
make that a goal of our team. We have a few players on our
team who are solid and play high level club during the
summer. For the most part, our team is new to ultimate.
The question comes up ever year, do we ride our best players
and try to win every game? Or do we develop the whole team
and try and teach team fundamentals?
This came up most recently because we lost to a team seeded
below us that just used their 2 or 3 best players all day to
beat us.
Remember this is a college team not a club team. At the club
level I think you do what you need to do to win.
Wondering everyone' input on this topic and the way to
balance this. Thanks
