This is all a perfect segue into why everyone should sign up for Hats,
Hops Hucks this year.  Mo Moscoe, founder of the tournament, is by far
the best TD you'll ever experience-anyone who has been to this
tournament will vouch for that.  It's one fee and you get a jersey, a
disc, 2 delicious dinners (not crappy pizza), 2 breakfasts, a party
with unlimited beer and most importantly-well organized tournament
play.  This year the reins will be shifted to Evrett, Mo's right hand
man who I am confident is just as passionate, competent and spirited.

I'm not an official promoter, just a very enthused supporter of HHH
who will be attending their 6th straight year.

whats that per player fee again?

The attending teams may have a legitimate concern if they have come to
expect a certain level of quality out of product, then the price is
raised while the quality is simultaneously reduced. As you say this is
a capitalistic society and he's providing a service etc etc But it
isn't as though a company providing a service, let's say a cleaning
service who typically does a thorough job, could raise their prices on
their loyal customers while only doing a half-assed job and expect
those customers not to complain. By complaining (one of the key tenets
of economics) they either force the company to shape up and provide a
better service or lower the price, or they force the company out of
business in the face of a competitor who is willing to satisfy their
needs. So basically they're just exercising their rights as members of
a capitalist society.
