Max Planck (1858-1947), the German theoretical Physicist who originated
quantum theory was quoted as saying:

"A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and
making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die,
and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it"

The old guard must die out for evolution to happen. Unfortunately, seeing
as ultimate is a religion, the old guard indoctrinates the new generations
with their dogma before they go.
