I'd prefer to play it out- how much extra energy are you actually
wasting after playing a full game? I like to play that extra point
after hard cap that doesn't mean anything. It's more relaxed, the
losing team wants to have a small victory of winning the last point,
the winning team usually wants the last point just as much... but
realistically neither team is going to be too sad to lose it.
I like to think that playing hard against a team you know you're going
to beat (ie. 12-0 and still working very hard not to let them get a
point) shows more respect towards your opponent.
At the same time, I wouldn't think any less of a team, or poor spirit
if I saw them allow the last point after hard cap.
