As a critic of ultimate i feel i am somewhat obligated to live up to
my user name. Others have suggested a middle man type press secretaty
(omnibudsman???) needs to be developed within the upa administration
to convey more info as to the administrative efforts and stategies so
to help provide more transparancies as to how OUR organization is
being run and how OUR money is being spent. Untill then, i am going
to do my duty to the sport and critisize ANYTHING that i think is
amiss. And if you dont like it then tough shit......critisize it,
thats what i do.

But since i am being accused of complaining......heres another
complaint.....most upa members are extremely apathetic. Giving the
upa a pass everytime the mandate an unpopular policy, dont meet a
deadline or use poor resourse attainment skills and foolishly spend/
waste money on this that or the other will do nothing but prepetuate
more mediocracy in the sport.

I am probably one of few people that has watched every cstv
presentation since they started programing college nationals and one
thing that i WAS actually impressed with was the post-production. The
graphics were good, the commentating was good, it was definatly
procuced in a professional manner. The thing that detracted most from
the presentation was the rag tag look that ultimate conveys.....with
their unies, with the lack of "stopped time efficency" and with the
"player controled" arbitration system. There is an old saying that
goes "ya cant make chiken salad out of chicken shit" and that is what
seems tthe upa is trying to do with this whole cstv coverage thing.
And why i reached out to both the upa and rsd with the "7 cheap and
easy ways..." thread.

So....point being....If you cant (or wont) go the extra mile and add
the various obvious "sports entertainment" enhancements to the
presentation then why dump alot of extra money into it. It seems most
people are content with ultimates present status as a culture based
hybrid sport with a centralized emphisis on spirit (hence no refs).
Although there are proponents of pushing the envelope and giving
ultimate its just due. It just seems to me by presenting ultimate in
its present hybrid state is further tarnishing its reputation and in
the end will make it harder to mend once the sport "breaks thru" and
finally embraces the concept of conforming to the rest of the sports
world.

A waste of everyone else's time.

Look, Ulticritic may post a lot of "crazy" stuff that you may or may
not agree with, but it seems that his financial concerns of how the
UPA is spending your money are valid.  I say YOUR money because I
don't pay money to an organization that provides so little to its
members, hence I am not a active member of the UPA.  I did donate to
TEAM USA, at least I knew exactly where my money was going...to
germany.

As a non-profit they pull in a substantial amount of cash.  The goal
of any operation, for profit or non profit, is to make money.  Money
aka, resources, give the organization to fulfill its mission statement
more effectively.  The UPA is making money, how they are spending your
money should be your concern.  So Andrew, dude, the only complaining
in this thread is you,  dude.

I think $11,000 is small price to pay for national coverage and could
easily be offset by 22 $500 advertisers.
You can call it complaining, but these questions ARE valid as Baer
previously stated.

Given what limited knowledge I have of television production and the
cost of "airtime" getting Ultimate on CSTV is worth the exposure
provided the post-production is handled in a professional manner.
