mplayer (with win32codecs) plays pretty much everything on linux.

My friend ran it on linux. I'm not sure what codecs he had installed,

Yeah, the aspect ratio was messed up.

mplayer Pike-Metal.wmv -monitoraspect 1

The above option seemed to fix it.
