Seems to me like this is a problem with the tournament director not scheduling enough games, not a problem with the format. Even with pool play, you go into brackets on sunday. Just make sure the TD schedules consolation games...

I totally agree...why make regionals so different? If someone can
explain it to me, that would be great...why not just make it like the
sectionals format (maybe it's because more than 2 teams have to
qualify), but there's gotta be a better way than all teams paying the
same amount of money, and then some teams play 2 games; others play
7...
