3) Yes, it was a travel, and the receiver can call it. (Anyone can
call travel, even your own teammate.)
4) The defense is not correct in saying the receiver must play it from
where it was caught. The initial throw was not legal, and since it was
called, the violation must be corrected. (The offense potentially
gained advantage by the travel, thus, the throw must go back. Let's
say the initial throw was a full field huck that was caught--the
defense would certainly send it back in that case.)
I must say--a pretty unusual situation.
