Ireland being in a tough spot has nothing to do with poor design of
the competition and everything to do with their losing to the
Bangles. There were 4 "favorites" and 3 "minnows". For a minnow to
be one of the final 4, it had to somehow win 3 games -- easiest would
be to beat one of the favorites, and also beat the other two minnows.
Ireland fluffed it up against Bangladesh.

Yes, they really should have won that match.

2 wins (one against England and one against another minnow) just are
not going to be enough. Ireland needs to beat another one of the
favorites, and has only itself to blame for not coming to the party
against the Bangles. Close but no cigar performances don't count --
you need wins.

I think they now need to beat West Indies (as well as Holland, of
course). Unlikely, but it's certainly possible, though it may need Roach
to have an off day.

And just as importantly Gayle and Bravo....
