I'm surprised at the 'openness' & 'eagerness' of PCB in disclosing
this. Public would have also bought 'hamstring pull'. Most women wo=
uld
still sleep with him though

is this Shoaib Akhtar? No idea who you are posting about

Who would want to bowl after him ? I could envisage quite a few
misfields when he has the ball in his hands.

In all fairness, this information could have easily been with
held.These are =A0basic doctor-patient confidentiality ethics and
considering that the doctors were set up =A0by PCB, it really should
never have come out.Could have easily said hamstring or something else.

Take a simple concept like transparency. Nothing could be wrong with
that? Right? :) Count on the PCB to find the one case where it is not
a good idea. Not that he has helped but they really seem to have it in
for him though...for the wrong reasons. Hit a team mate get a few
match ban. Give a statement against the PCB chairman's position;
implement a five year ban.
In this case PCB might have been hamstrung by the fact that I think
ICC has to approve changes to the squad after the cutoff date and if
the reasons are medical it has to be considered whether the injury was
pre-existing or known before selection. At least this has been the
case in the past. However, one would assume that they may have
some ... well more private channels of handling medical issues. If
they don't they should consider it. A lot of snickering may go on in
this case but consider something like cancer where the player does not
wish it divulged to the world at large. There is good reason to keep
medical records confidential unless the patient wishes to reveal it.
The curious thing is that it was the player who first disclosed (well
partly) the condition. Did he already know it was being disclosed. It
is unlikely that he considered it fine that the information become
public.

Painful scars after treatment?
Seems like the Pakistanis are using up their nukes on Shoaib before
they get to go at the mad hat taliban before them gets their stone
aged hands on the red button.

Kamran Abbasi from Cricinfo has the exact same take ,that I mentioned
earlierhttp://blogs.cricinfo.com/pakspin/archives/2009/05/woah_shoaib_too_mu...

For once I really think Shoaib ought to sue if it was done without his
consent.

"It may not be a great surprise to some who have tut-tutted over
Shoaib's lifestyle that he has picked up a dose of genital warts.
Nonetheless, like every patient, Shoaib deserves his privacy and
today's public announcement is way too much information."

What an irony!
