2 out of the above are wrong (not just mis-spellings). Let's see if
you can find them.

You are talking nonsense. You are trying to hint that in addition to
tamil, Telugu, Malyalam, Tulugu and Kannad, English is also a South
Indian language.

I didn't hint anything of the kind, but feel free to try again.

Sorry it is not. English is a foreign language and it
is spoken widely by Madrasis (and I mean all south Indians when I say
Madrasis - it is only a short form).

Constitution of India does not list English as one of the Indian
languages.

It does. "English is the co-official language of the Indian Union"
from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Languages_of_India

Madras came into existence about 370 years ago. Also, tip for you -
Tamil is much older than 8-9 hundred years.

Madras city may be. Even that is not true. The city is only 200 years
or so old. Calcutta was centuries older than Madras.

Do you get anything right?

"(Calcutta's) documented history, however, begins with the arrival of
the British East India Company in 1690" in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcutta

"(Madras) grew up around Fort St. George, built by the British in
1640" in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madras

I remember
reading in History that Tamil people's capital was Kanchi and
Thanjarpur (Tanjapore or some such place).

Both are right, to some extent. The Pallava Kingdom's capital was
Kanchi around the 7th Century AD and the Chola empire's capital was
Thanjavur around the 13th Century AD. Both of them, however, pre-date
Madras and Calcutta by a long way.

True, it's not disparaging, just ignorant. Not just Prakash, but I
know a whole lot of people who are tired to being asked "What language
do you speak - Madarasi?". The irate reaction is on the lines of
"Goddammit, it's OK if they make a mistake in the language and mistake
Telugu for Malayalam or whatever, but wtf is Madarasi?".

Do you also ask "wtf is Hindi?"

No, we know it.

Knowing your Hindi hating ways I am
sure you can pretend to have not heard of Hindi.

We don't "hate" Hindi. Several of us speak it, and enjoy speaking it
when we visit the North. We just don't like it made mandatory.

"Mehalonpis" is as close to Pandianese as anyone has got.

You know this is a strange newsgroup. A Sri Lankan gives himself a
Chinese Name, a Sardar (supposed) gives himself a Dutch Name and
nobody says that they are fakes. I post in my own name they say that I
am "Pandian or Pandianese".

For your information, I was on this news group 10 years before you. I
was posting in 1996 / 1997. Please google my Id "Kavish3352" and you
will find that I was one of the earliest here.

I actually did. Most of it was just a cut and paste of stuff from the
Web. It, however, had more worthwhile original content than your
current oeuvres.

There was Central provinces, there were several kingdoms etc., but go
ahead.

It changes nothing in my argument.

And the Western states are all Bombayite? That's enough to get
Puneites come after you with a machete.

Many Puneites can speak Hindi proudly.

And it might well be in Hindi that they differ politely from you for
being bracketed with Bombayites, particularly in terms of culture.

Tip for you. India's so insanely diverse that if you travel 150 KM
from Bangalore in different directions you'd end up in regions with
entirely different languages, food habits etc. There's no such thing
as a "basically Madarasi culture".

So what? They are all Indian and belong to the national mainstream. US
is so diverse. But they all speak the same language and have the same
constitution. Nowehere can a state in the US say, I am so diverse that
I will speak Spanish as my first language. When Southern US wanted to
break free 100 or so years ago because of its diversity the North
crushed it. In India too the North can crush such disobedient and
unwanted diversity. It is because of our large hearted and accepting
nature that today you speak "insane diversity."

Don't fool yourself. The Sri Lankans were the first to wish you luck
in your effort to push your language down an unwilling minority's
throat. It was tried in the first 15 years after Independence and the
failure was plain. There's nothing "large hearted" and "accepting"
about it.

All these diverse places are like small rivers and ponds. When they
join Ganga (the common Hindi-based Sanskrit Originated Civilization)
they become one great river.

Unity is not achieved by uniformity. "Hindi-based Sanskrit Originated
Civilization" is utter rubbish, when the civilisation is several
thousand years old and Hindi's been around for a few hundred years.
There's something far more subtle and deep that keeps the country
together than a bunch of idiots fantasising about shoving their
language down others' throats.

I have read Ramachandra Guha from
First I have heard of knowledge of English leading to expertise in
programming. You need to expand on the slave English loving culture of
Knuth, Dijkstra, Ritchie etc. which led them to become such good
programmers.

I don't know who these nuts are.

Can you do a google search of "programming" with any one of these
names?

The simple point is that to succeed
in Computer Science you need English. End of subject.

There're a bunch of Chinese, Japanese, East Europeans etc. who would
differ from your opinion. The French would like to differ.

You done enough to establish that you have absolutely no clue about
what you're talking. Save yourself the trouble.

I am not the one lacking in facts and hostorical knowledge.

Look above. The instances are numerous.

The regional quota has benefited different regions at different points
in time.

Not North. We have always been victims. Always. West Zone dominated
and then South and then with Ganguly East. North has produced the
greatest players and got the least benefit.

Paranoia and stupidity - a pleasant mixture.

is entirely in your fevered, crazed imagination. In that Oval test
that you have mentioned (and in the England tour overall), Venkat
favoured that notorious "Madarasi" Kapil Dev above everyone else

Shows the lack of reading skills. I clearly said that in series when
India beat England in England,

Quote from your earlier post

"Similalry he (Venkat) did not allow Bedi enough chances when he was
Captain in England. India lost 1-0 and Bedi in Oval could have made a
huge difference. "

The only series that India lost 1-0 which had Bedi and Venkat was in
1979. Next!

this was in the early 70s or something.
And the team was led by Pataudi or Wadekar or Merchant or somebody.

<Wince>

This was when India defeated England 1-0. Bedi was the hero of that
series. And then Chandra. Venkat was a washout. In Oval Bedi and
Chandra bowled India to victory. Bedi was magnificent and Venkat was?

Match Figures for the Oval test (1971)

Bedi:- 3 for 121
Chandra:- 8 for 114
Venkat:- 4 for 107

Now, to demolish the next piece of nonsense.

In the next time India went to England, South and West joined and
plotted against Bedi and he refused to play for Venkat.

It was said that Prasanna, Chandra and Vishy were on Bedi's side, so
it's particularly dumb to make this claim about "South and West".
Still, it's far more accurate than your

He agreed to go on tour with Wadekar as captain and Venkat as vice-
captain. When the captain fell ill and the vice-captain took over, he
kicked up a fuss. This was sheer indiscipline and the BCCI (with PM
Rungta as the president) punished Bedi by suspending him for one test.

Because Bedi
was ill treated and victimized India lost 3-0 and even though Bedi
bowled his heart out and grabbed 6 wickets in one of the matches,

6-226 out of a total of 629.

India lost. This is story of India for centuries.

Mir Jaffer Venkat and Katputhli Wadekar.

mainly because he looked most likely to get a wicket. Bedi and Venkat
bowled almost the same amount, followed by Ghavri et al.
and because both keepers were poor in batting, Reddy was preferred as
the better keeper.

Reddy better than Khanna? What a joke.

The unexplained bit was why the best keeper in the
country (that poor North Indian Syed Kirmani) was left behind at home.

More ignorance. What do you do with Dosa - Idli logic? Kirmani might
have a Muslim name but he is not from North India. He played for
Hyderabad or Kannad or may be even Madras (I am sure he was South Zone
but not sure which state).

You mean a South Indian was victimised, by being dropped to favour the
North Indian Khanna? How could that happen if the minority North
Indians are always victimised.

Note to Kavish: The above's sarcasm as was the one above that. Now try
again.

It always was a pipe dream - one language can never be the national
language in a land with 14 official languages.

Because of people like you. China has over 50 languages and is twice
the size of India and has more people than India. It has one national
language. In fact I have even heard that if you protest against
learning Chinese in China you will be sent to torture camps and
lifelong prison. If we had done the same to the South in one
generation we could have changed you guys.

And if your aunt had a moustache, she would be your uncle. Please
continue the fantasies.

And, by the way, the
constitution of India does not confer on Hindi the status of National
language.

I have never heard of COMPLETE NONSENSE like this. The Constitution
says without the slightest doubt that Hindi is the National language
and other languages are official languages. And it does not say
anywhere that English is one of our languages.

"Neither the Constitution of India nor Indian law specifies a National
language." from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_language

"The Constitution of India envisages Hindi as the primary official
language to be used by the Union Government, with English as the
subsidiary official language." from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Official_languages_of_India

Hindi and English are official languages, that's all. It's
curious how many people make that mistake.

What absurd foolish nonsense. The WORST PROPAGANDA by Madrasi idiots.
The constitution says that Hindi and English are official Languages?
Which Constitution is this? Constitution of Madras? India's
Constitution does not say any such thing. You show me this and I will
shave my pubic hair and send it you.

God, consider all that was said above withdrawn. I definitely don't
want this.

I promise. If you do not will you
please stop posting for ever on this newsgroup?

Perhaps the Constitution that you have read was written by Madrasi.
Did you see any Sambar or Curd Rice on the book?

Man what a joke. English has the same status as Hindi. And that too in
our Constitution! Aise dakkan kahan se nikhle hein? Namoone hein
saale. Namoone.
