Even the Violet Crumble has more sense to whinge and whine about this

Well, his team was beaten by a team that played much better cricket in
all departments. All you can do in the face of such a crushing defeat
is admit you were outplayed, and try to do better next time.

The pop culture reference to Violet Crumble is lost on me. I take it
that you are trying to say that Kumble had no alternative but sound
gracious in defeat. My post was in reference to a couple of comments
made about Indians claiming that SL cheated. Here they are in
Chronological sequence:

1. " it might be a result, but SL clearly cheated! how? not sure yet,
but give it a few days and it will be clear... "
2. "... PLEASE enlighten me (ie. inform, educate me) HOW SL apparently
cheated, dude? Did they bribe the 3rd umpire? Match fixing? Those
grapes pretty bloody sour aren't they??!! ..."

Clearly, both posters were suggesting the Indians had complained of
cheating by SL.

Wrong. The first poster was being sarcastic, the suggestion being that
India and its supporters can always be expected to so complain
whenever they lose. In the event, very few Indians have posted at all
(except those suggesting India should give away Test cricket
altogether). Not sure why they wouldn't bag their team, that is what
most would do in these circumstances. Certainly if Australia played
that badly, I'd be the first to say so.

The reply was a case of missing the irony of the earlier post. A swing
and a miss, you might say.

I posted in response that no such event happened and
that Kumble had actually paid handsome tributes to the team that
outplayed his side. It is one thing to join the issue when the Indian
team raises an objection on grounds of "cheating" or more generally
complaining being on the receiving end of bad umpiring (as it happened
afte the Sydney Test). It is quite another to fabricate such comments
- or simply lie - and then post sarcastic rejoinders about comments
that were never made. Sounds like kicking a man when he is down.

As you can see my objective in posting was not to make virtue out of
necessity as much as to refute the claims made by those with a
visceral dislike of India.
