The Aussie media is spinning the ICC goof up big time. They have made
it look lke if harby's previous bans were known to Hansen he would
have banned Harby under 3.3.
Nonsense. All they have said is that the penalty would have been greater.
The penalty was applied at the low end of 2.8 because of provocation. If
the record had been known to Hansen then that mitigation would have been
counterbalanced by Harbhajan's record. It's still possible to be suspended
under 2.8.
If you read yesterday's Aussie media that is the impression one gets.
Aside, I would have liked to see two match ban on Harby and Symonds
both, or 2-1,1-2 etc. That would have made the officials look like
they will take a hard line on bad behaviour, but with ICC having a
baggage of not reporting Aussie playerss that is far away.
