Delightful over - 19 runs off convict Johnson. Fortunately
ball didnt
hit the pad with Blackie at the bowler's end. Not as yet
:)

Not over yet curry muncher - long way to go yet, and no bum
decisions
yet. I
reckon the umpires owe the fielding side about four
decisions.

You are so right about the previous innings, bread thief.

Lax reaching 50 now from Monkey's over. Cats have 9 lives,
monkeys
have 4 apparently :)

Yes but we have 463 runs on the board. We as in the WORLD
CHAMPIONS, not as
in YOU - dead beat curry munchers devoid of a real captain....

Sure as hell you got 463. I see they taught you reading in jail.

This is the sort of banter that political correctness has ruined.
References to convicts, curry, monkeys, stealing bread and prison
may be deemed as racist by some particularly dim observers, but
it's a bit of light-hearted fun involving people who happen to be
from different racial backgrounds. There should be more of it.

is black cunt monkeys OK?

As long as "black" and "monkey" are merely passengers to the
cuntness of the recipient.

Why?

Because they may be considered offensive otherwise.

Oh I thought it was light-hearted fun involving people who happen to
be from different racial backgrounds.

As became apparent many years ago, it's alright to call someone a dopey
Arab cunt as long as they are a dopey cunt who happens to be an Arab.
If the focus of the insult is the fact that the person is an Arab, it's
racist. I'm merely applying the same principle here.

I'm not sure there are universal principles when it comes to racist
comments, the racism is in the eye of the whinger

Sometimes the whinger is just a whinger. A non racist may perform some
action, such as queue-jump, unaware that a whinger of a different racial
background has just been pushed back a place in the line. While the
whinger may consider the action to be driven by racism, it could hardly
have been a racist act if the perpetrator was unaware of the alleged
victim's presence.

interesting philosophical pov, now what do you think the OP motivations
were with its use of language

My opinion, based on the usage of the word "convict", was that it was a mild
dig at Australia's modern heritage. "Blackie" was slightly suspect, but the
umpire was certainly of the skin colour generally referred to as "black".

I considered responding with a "curry muncher" retort but chose instead to
read the existing replies, which revealed that I'd been beaten to the punch.
The bread references, followed by the monkey references (which I never
considered to be racist per se), just made the whole exchange very amusing.
You don't need to have a thick skin to find merriment in friendly digs.
Finding offence in friendly digs just reveals particularly thin skin.

Based on some of the posts here, I'm more concerned with the depth rather
than the colour of some posters skin. We're all basically the same after
all. People routinely make fun of Jews, Irish, Italians, French (google
"french military victories"), Germans and most others. Why should some
remain sacred simply because they don't get the joke?

I can understand that some things may be off-limits, such as making fun of
Chernobyl or Bhopal victims, but generally non-offensive targets should be
open house. Making fun of someone's physical appearance should be OK if it
isn't for the purpose of ridiculing that person or race to the point of
victimisation.

I've now exceeded my four paragraphs per two sentences (with this paragraph
explaining such exceedance), so I shall conclude this post forthwith.
