There's talent, aptitude, attitude and luck. All count in a successful
career. It's your preorgative to combine the lot into the talent
bucket. But its not a basis for a discussion. I'll stick to my guns.
Ponting is an all time great. Better than Sachin? You would need to be
rabidly anti Indian and rabidly pro Aussie to make that claim.
Hayden. Great opener. Same bracket as Rahul?? Refere above.
Jacques vs Jaffer. In the ballpark.
Symonds, Clarke vs Laxman, Ganguly??
Remember we are still talking talent. This is not about performance in
Australia against Australia (that's aptitude) or having your backs to
the wall (thats attitude).
Clarke, Johnson vs Zak and RP. This is the only comparison that tilts
to Aus in terms of talent. Though Zak has great ability. Once again we
are talking talent.
And how did you measure talent? Talent meter?
I want to check mine. I am better than any Aus player, just that I
didn't get a chance yet :)
Takeiteasy.
Lee is great. Kumble will end up with a better career record in terms
of numbers. That's my stake in the ground.
Hogg vs Bhajji. Not today, but remember what Bhajji is capable of.
Talent once again.
One can argue that Dhoni and Gilly are clones. Try watching that
stumping of Jacques in the first innings.
Now that ive had to analyze, im convinced we have greater talent. We
cant put it together to matter when needed.
As to money trickling down, i remember seeing the ICL vs Ranji numbers
that do not agree with what you have entered. Will try dig that up.
Richest board in the world some say. And all we can come up with is
one stadium and a few academies??
Underage performances rarely translate to senior careers. My hunch is
the folks that make FC debuts around 20-21 are the ones that go on to
good international careers.
