Saw Raina batting for India A and he was batting quite fluently.
However, he dropped two catches (one a sitter) but fielded well and
did the crucial run-out of Morkel.
Having just seen the India A vs SA A match, Badrinath batted very well
with 88*

how did kaif's batting/fielding look? i see he has a not very high
strike rate but at least he is scoring runs. did he look at all like a
come-back kid? cricinfo commentary reports the runout at the end makes
it appear like he has not lost his abilities in that department.

Kaif was extremely slow at the beginning - fair enough since we had
lost 3 wickets quickly. However Raina, as soon as he came in, began
scoring very quickly while Kaif held the fort. Raina then got caught
going for a big hit for about 45 and Kaif then had a good partnership
with Badrinath who looked very impressive and scored very quickly.
Kaif holed out at 98 towards the end of the Indian innings - a very
useful knock but not outstanding.

I was more impressed with his field settings when we were fielding as
with his changes in the bowlers. Kaif himself bowled and had a fairly
useful 1st over but got hammered in the second :-)

He was of course sharp while fielding. About the last runout, I don't
think it was anything fantastic.

SA needed 2 runs off the last ball to win. Opening bowler Kumar was
operating, having been hit for boundaries off the previous two balls.
I thought it was over but Kumar put down a fairly accurate ball which
Botha hit back hard. The ball bounced and Kumar got his hands to the
ball but it bounced over in the general direction of the stumps. Kaif
was fielding at mid off and showed presence of mind to run in quickly,
pick up the ball and dive to run out Botha. Kaif had to be alert to
see where the ball was but it was relatively easy to do the runout
after that.
