Fully agreed that Karthik should not be in the squad.
I also saw Badrinath in full flow today and he looke quite impressive.
I knew about his batting talent but was completely surprised with his
bowling. He was not even supposed to be in the normal 5 bowlers quota
but was brought on because Mahesh was completely off form.
Badrinath bowled 10 overs and took 4 wickets so he is quite a
promising allrounder. However, it is probably too early to put him
into the squad as we suddenly seem to have a burst of talented young
batsmen.
The match was an absolute thriller with our batting recovery being
brought about by the great stand between Kaif and Badrinath. Kaif was
unlucky to hole out on 98 at the end while Badrinath was 88* at almost
a run a ball.
When the last SA over started, I thought that we just had the edge
since they required 12 with their last pair. However, the two
successive boundaries suddenly swung the balance and I thought it was
all over with 2 needed of the last ball. The run out by Kaif enabled
India to triumph in a most entertaining match.
